The Rock
What looks like a big hat is the "mountain" at whose base the historic town of Cefalù. The lower part Western is characterized by ruins of a number of mills and forced that conduits gathered and exploited the water coming down from that side. On this side the trail climbs, fortified in the middle ages, which makes it possible to climb the rock. Halfway up the perimeter of the rock is all enclosed by crenellated walls date back to the middle ages and the most recent ultimate in the 15th century. On the Western side of the wall where the door opens the trail access arrives. Always halfway up but in the small interior plateau of the castle there are the remains of a megalithic building dating back to the 9th century BC called Temple of Diana. At the time North of the walls, overlooking a cliff just above the Cathedral of Cefalù and above all the village was erected a metal cross several metres high and night lights to dominate the landscape. On the top there are the remains of a medieval castle dating back to the XIII-XIV century, which give the name to l the whole Rocca, called u castieddu, the castle.
